Argentina have competed in all the Rugby World Cup tournaments, starting with the inaugural 1987 tournament.

The Argentina national rugby team, officially nicknamed Los Pumas, play in sky blue and white jerseys, and are organised by the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR, from the Spanish: Unión Argentina de Rugby).

The 2015 Rugby World Cup was an international rugby union tournament to be held in England and Wales from 18 September until 31 October 2015. Twenty national teams competed, and each brought a 31-man squad to the tournament.

England are drawn with France and Argentina in a tough pool for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan plus Scotland and Ireland are in Pool A.

Argentina have been drawn into arguably the toughest group for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, after being picked to face England and France from pool C. The draw took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Kyoto, Japan and pits Los Pumas against 2003 World Cup champions England, three-time finalists France and the winners of the North American qualifiers (USA or Canada), as well as the second-placed team from Oceania's qualifying (Fiji, Tonga or Samoa). On the surface, Argentina (ranked ninth in the world rankings) will be disappointed with the hand they've been dealt, however their ending up as part of the ever-feared 'group of death' was always a likely outcome - Los Pumas found themselves in the third pooling tier after defeats to England, Scotland and Wales in November's internationals period, meaning they would inevitably be drawn against two higher ranked teams. Argentina will have the chance to scope out their opposition next month, however, as Eddie Jones' England cross the pond

England have been drawn with France and Argentina in Pool C, while New Zealand and South Africa have been drawn together in Pool B for the 2019 Rugby World Cup to be held in Japan.

Saturday's comprehensive defeat to South Africa - the same Springbok outfit who looked entirely adrift last year - was Argentina's 13th loss in their last 16 Test matches.
