Jatiluwih rice terraces pretty much cover the region of the namesake upland village in West Bali, most famous for its landscapes that are both dramatic and truly exotic.

Most tourists in Bali only ever seem to go to Kuta Beach. I’ve been amazed at the crowds in Kuta and equally amazed at how few crowds there have been elsewhere.

Tuesday, 11-11-2014. Day 83.Elephant Caves, Long Rides, Free Meals.
After three days of leisure, we decided it was time to venture out and see
some more Bali sights. We'd heard that the Elephant Cave was interesting to
see and, as part of  visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites, we wanted to see
the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces.

This is the best chance to discover the eternal beauty of the rice terraces of Jatiluwih! The name Jatiluwih means really marvelous and the landscape of the terraced rice fields here is the most beautiful in Bali. The village really deserves the name! The rice paddy’s plots carved from the slopes of Mount Batukaru are extended until the seaside.
Now the breathtaking view of the rice fields of Jatiluwih is recognized as one of the UNESCO’s world heritage sites. The yield of the rice fields per hectare in this region is much higher than other regions in Bali due to the fertility of her land and the agricultural technique practiced by the farmers.
We pick you up in your hotel and then take you to a mountain village where we start our day to explore the Jatiluwih’s rice paddies.
During approximately two hours walking in the midst of the rice paddies, we take a closer look to the Bali’s agricultural life, the stages of rice harvest and the rich variety of medicinal plants, spices and fruit trees found along the way.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant with marvelous view to the endless rice paddies with the majestic Mount Batukaru as the backdrop. After the trip we take you back to your hotel.
What to bring: sport shoes, hat, t-shirt, long pants, change of clothes
