69 Killed on Eastern Jet In a Crash Near Charlotte - The New York Times
An Eastern Airlines Dcjet smashed into a woods while attempting to land here early today, killing 69 of the 82 persons aboard. The plane, which was making an intermediate stop on Flight 212 from Charleston, S. C., to Chicago, cracked apart and burst into flames on impact. Some of the 13 survivors were thrown clear and escaped with minor injuries, but others were seriously burned.
