After protesting that Neil Young had an eponymous spider, Stephen Colbert won his own namesake arachnid last week, Aptostichus stephencolberti. On Wednesday night’s “Colbert Report,” he hosted a mock-dating show, “Spida of Love,” to choose which spider he would choose as his own.
Aptostichus stephencolberti is a species of spider in the family Euctenizidae, named after the American satirist Stephen Colbert.[2] The spider was discovered on the California coastline in 2007.[3]
