The Bar Harbor Village Green, or simply “Village Green” as it is known, is the calm and peaceful anchor around which the island moves on a daily basis. One cannot miss it or its vigilant and historic mascot, the town clock, as they are both in the middle of this charming coastal village.
Located in the center of town, this 1.5-acre site was originally home to the Grand Central Hotel, torn down in 1899. That same year, the town of Bar Harbor purchased the land, set it aside as public open space, and leased it to the Village Improvement Association (VIA).
