You could adapt this easily for different levels using upper and lowercase as pairs to match, sight words ( writing out two and finding the match) or word families. Even though my almost 3 year old participated this activity is part of our Learning After School series . This series is filled with ideas for fun active learning after school gets out.

A while back,I whipped up a little game for my kids to practice making words. I used a photo of them playing on the floor with it in this post over here, and several people have commented on it and asked about it.

We’ve been having fun playing all sorts of letter, number, and color matching games this week. I printed out the letters of the alphabet, the numbers 1 through 10 and a few different colored squares and we played some treasure hunt and matching games.

It’s a great alphabet activity with a focus on pretend play and part of our Alphabet For Starters series. My son and I made this mail box years ago and it had been a while since I’d dug it out of my son’s closet to play. We added in some envelopes and letters and got down to the serious business of play!

After my husband made the sensory tables and the window easel, he had two left-over rectangular shaped pieces of plywood left over. They were the "holes" that were cut out of the sensory table. I decided to try my own hand at some construction and made my very own geoboards.

Since flash cards are really not my thing, I have been putting a little active fun into our sight words (you can click here if you haven’t seen the ones we’ve done already!) For the last couple of weeks we have been putting a "twist" into our sight word practice, with Sight Word Twister. (I did giggle a little about that one.)

Today I’ll show you one fun way we use our sight word flashcards. This is a fun activity that my girls love to make.

Our kids had a chance to visit a local Farmer’s Market this past weekend. One of the special treats we found…HOMEGROWN POPCORN! Our kids thought it was DELICIOUS! We ate it, played games with it, and made a special word wall to use.
