A list of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to see before Captain America Civil War. In the titles I have labeled each as "A Must Watch!, Maybe and Skip." A Must Watch means you should watch it if you want to get the full experience from Civil War, Maybe means you wouldn't miss out too much if you didn't see the movie and Skip means it's not necessary to watch as it plays no significant role related to this movie.

The first movie in the MCU. While not completely pertinent to Civil War's plot what it does show is a arc for Iron Man who is, dare I say, Starkly different from the one portrayed in the new movie.
iron Man 2 is no doubt a good film though I don't think it is completely necessary to watch to enjoy Civil War. Iron Man 3 would honestly be a better choice.
Thor is cool and if you want to better understand what is going on in Avengers then it might be worth watching but I don't feel like there is much to his character other than he is a bit of a gruff doofus who doesn't completely understand the workings of normal social interaction.
I know I know, its Captain America: Civil War. You'd think at least you need to watch all the Captain America films but not so. All you need to know is Captain America is a man out of time. As such, his values are somewhat old fashioned and don't always match up with the present day world. Oh and he had a girlfriend in the 40's and she's old now. Honestly I did not really like this movie at all, skip it!
I didn't truly love this movie like a lot of people but I do feel like it is important for understanding how all of the different heroes interact with each other. It also begins to set up an important character arc for Iron Man which will play into Iron Man 3.
This was actually a great movie! It is quite possibly the last stand alone Iron Man film as well. Shows you a good bit more of War Machine and Iron Man's relationship as well.
Despite an underwhelming first movie I feel like this iteration of Captain America is awesome and honestly one of the best films in the MCU. You NEED to see this movie before Civil War. More so than any other movie on this list!
As you may already know, Ant-Man makes an appearance in Civil War. His character, however, is just sort of glanced over. It doesn't completely feel like he even belongs in Civil War but if you aren't opposed to watching more movies then give his a shot.
