The Irish Wolfhound is the world's tallest dog breed. It has a thick, wiry gray coat with droopy ears and bushy eyebrows and whiskers. They are sighthounds originally bred to hunt wolves, but are easygoing companion animals. They appear in Irish literature as early as the 5th Century and may be even older than that.
